Even though not many people showed up to his birthday party, I’m glad that something good came out of it. I hope a lot of people decide to donate after reading this article.

Joshua, I’m proud of you buddy!

Today was very disappointing because we had planned a very nice birthday party for our son Joshua, who was only asking for donations to Relay For Life instead of birthday gifts. However, after preparing for a large number of people, only key family members showed up for the party. This was very disappointing to him because he was looking forward to celebrating with his friends.

Of course as a parent I became indignant towards those who didn’t show up and hurt my son’s feelings.

However, as I’ve dwelled on the events of today I can’t help but be reminded that due to the curse from God because of Adam’s disobedience,  all of life has become futile.

So the very disappointment Joshua and me both feel is ultimately due to futility as stated in Romans 8:19 -21:

Today I realized that I’ve allowed myself to get wrapped up in worldly affairs and life issues that I almost forgot that it was Good Friday. I was very annoyed that I could even possibly forget that over 2000 years ago, God in the form of Jesus Christ came down and died so that sinners like myself could be made right with God. In 3 days we will celebrate Christ’s great resurrection from the dead, a triumph over sin and death.

I pray that God will  lead my heart to focus on his Son, Jesus Christ during this Easter weekend and that I will be reminded that no matter how tough or troublesome life gets it can’t compare to what God has planned for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.  I have a hope that one day I will be raised up with Saints from all the ages to spend eternity with my Savior.

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Over the past month or so I’ve been playing back through the Half-Life 2 series and I’m really enjoying myself.  I’m currently on Episode 1 trying to finish that up. I’ll then move on to Episode 2 which is the latest installment of the series.

I’ve always been a big fan of first person shooters but I’d have to say that Half-Life 2 is my all-time favorite. There is something about the sci-fi world that Valve created that just draws me in.

The character concepts are very well designed and the life that the animators breath into each one makes it exciting to be a part of that world.

There are  enough puzzle elements and variety in the level designs that it never seems to get tiresome. From fighting Gunships and Striders to racing across toxic sewage systems in a rigged speed boat, everything is always broken up enough to keep things interesting. The action gets intense, yet never so overwhelming that it makes me angry when I get killed.

Sarah’s birthday party was quite a success. In spite of last minute scrambling to get everything together, everyone really enjoyed themselves and Sarah and her friends had a blast.

Our theme was Hollywood movie stars. For activities we had Karaoke, Freeze Dance, Hand Prints like they do on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, and a Movie Clapper Pinata.

There were laughs to be had as the kids did their best to sing to the songs on the screen.

I’m currently transferring the video to our laptop. I’ll hopefully get to post the footage for anyone interested in checking it out.

This is a special shout out to my little girl Sarah Morgan Lynn! I hope you have a happy 5th birthday! We’re all looking forward to your big party tomorrow!
